Job summary

Westcourt Medical Centre is a forward thinking and friendly training practice, with a growing list size that is currently around 13,000 patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and qualified Treatment Room Nurse to join our Nursing and Health Care Assistant Team.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience/qualifications in wound care with an interest in tissue viability, and also experience with childhood immunisations. Applicants will be confident, show initiative, have the ability to remain calm under pressure, be team players, adaptable with a flexible approach to duties and hours undertaken and be comfortable with clinical IT systems. Experience with TPP SystmOne is desirable but not essential.

About us

This is a permanent post for up to 34 hours per week. Salary is negotiable and can be discussed at interview. We also offer 5 weeks annual leave (pro-rata) and an NHS pension.

JOB TITLE: TREATMENT ROOM NURSE

ACCOUNTABLE TO:CLINICAL - Dr G WILLIAMS; ANNE LAMB-CONA

Objectives

To provide nursing care to patients able to attend the surgery.

To work within a team and autonomously ensuring the needs of the practice population are met in line with changes in service need and the GMS Contract.

To follow practice protocols and guidelines.

To undertake appropriate training to fulfil the role.

Person Specification

Level 1 Nurse. At least 1 year post registration work experience.

Holistic approach to patient care

Able to restore optimum health and prevent ill-health

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

To have undertaken training as appropriate for the role

Be able to be autonomous and take initiative and responsibility

To maintain confidentiality at all times

To maintain accurate records and report adverse changes in patients condition or refer any patient needing care outside her own sphere of competence to the GP or relevant professional

To inform patients about their condition, treatment and progress.

Participate in continuing professional development and clinical supervision. Ensure up to date evidence based knowledge and competence for all aspects of role are maintained and to work within latest NMC Code of Professional Conduct

Meetings attend practice meetings relevant to role on a regular basis

To be a team player

To be reflective and analytical

Hypertension monitoring

Computer data entry and recording consultations to meet GMS requirements

Leg ulcer and wound care management appropriate referrals to Dietician, TVN and Vascular teams.

Development of clinical knowledge and skills in line with providing practice needs

Ear Care

Emergency Management

Health education and promotion

Infection Control

Smoking Cessation Clinic Advice

Vaccinations, Immunisations & treatments as prescribed by doctors or under Patient Group Directives

Refer and manage patients requiring One Call services

Adult and Child safeguarding

Doppler studies

Spirometry and reversibility

Phlebotomy

Health care checks

Assisting with Minor operations and Microsuction, if required

24 hour BP monitoring
