Job summary
Queen Square Medical Practice- Medical Secretary required to cover maternity leave with a possibility to extend contract for a busy independent City Centre Practice.
We are looking to recruit a Medical Secretary to work 32 hours per week.
Hours will be between:
Monday 8am-5pm
Tuesday 8am-5pm
Wednesday 8am-5pm
Thursday 8am-5pm
Friday 8am-5pm
Specific duties and responsibilities:
To work as part of a team to provide a secretarial and administration service to the practice
To be responsible for logging onto the electronic patients record and record all referral activity and other information as required.
To liaise with hospitals and other organisations as required
To provide secretarial and administrative cover in the absence of other staff
Such other duties as of a comparable nature as may be required ,in consultation with the Practice Director/Practice Manager or the partners of the practice.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must be computer literate, possess good communication, verbal and written skills, accuracy to detail and confidentiality are essential at all times.
Awareness of the security of the building and contents with particular reference to the health and safety of self and colleagues reporting any problems to the nominated representative.
To take dictation, to audio type or copy and type referrals, letters, reports, information leaflets, presentations, posters etc.
Opening and distribution of mail , when required.
Franking of outgoing mail.
To update skills as through training/courses recommended by the Practice Director/Practice Manager
Dealing with refreshments as and when required
Photocopying, filing and any other administration as deemed necessary by Practice Director/Practice Manager.
Healthub reception duties as required
To familiarise yourself with the computer system within the practice to ensure you can record information on the practice computer system and to ensure you can carry out any other duties, such as reception work.
Any other duties as you may be reasonably requested for the smooth running of the practice.
Previous experience is desirable. Knowledge of EMIS web would be a great advantage as would the use of Docman and dictation systems.
Common sense and a good sense of humour are essential.
