Main duties of the job

  • PATIENT CONTACTS - EITHER F2F OR TELEPHONE. MIX OF URGENT (SAME DAY) AND ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS
  • 12 CONTACTS PER SESSION
  • CAPPED ADMIN PER SESSION - INCLUDING SELF GENERATED ADMIN (REFERRALS ETC), SIGNING PRESCRIPTIONS, FILING BLOOD TESTS AND SCAN RESULTS, CLINICAL LETTER READING AND FILING
  • ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS AS REQUIRED

Job description

Job responsibilities

4 sessions per week

Each session involves:

o Seeing patients

12 patients in the morning session

12 patients in the afternoon session

o Appointments are usually face to face. If patient prefers a telephone call it will be booked as such otherwise face to face will be the default.

o Appointments are a mix of pre-booked routine appointments and some on the day urgent appointments

o Our experienced reception team usually book an interpreter if needed

1. Clinical letter reading and filing maximum of 15 letters per session worked

2. Filing any blood test and scan results requested by yourself (not required to file tests requested by colleagues)

3. Signing prescriptions 25 prescriptions per session worked

4. Ring fenced time to complete self-generated admin (referrals etc)

5. Attending informal or formal internal meetings. The meeting may be clinical or to do with running of our service

o Currently the meeting is on Friday lunchtime this date can be moved depending on which sessions newly appointed GP works

6. 6 weeks annual leave, 1 week study leave pro rata and allocated CPD time.

7. Secretarial and Admin Support available and encouraged
