Job summary
PCN pharmacy technician roles will involve working across five practices as part of both a larger clinical pharmacy team and practice teams. You would be one of three Pharmacy Technicians working in Grand Union PCN. There is the opportunity for new candidates to work with us and the PCN to shape the role.
Our practices work well with our Clinical Pharmacists and are excited about the new Pharmacy Technician posts. There is a huge potential to make a difference in medicines management.

Main duties of the job
The role of the pharmacy technician in primary care is hugely varied and challenging. We meet regularly with our practices to ensure the pharmacy technicians have clear workplans and objectives. This has been hugely successful in ensuring we are using individuals skills, supporting the practices as needed and delivering on the GP contracts.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the practice team, answering medicine queries from patients and colleagues, supporting our care homes patients with their medicines, using medication safety tools to further support safe prescribing of medication, drug monitoring, actioning discharge / out-patient letters as well as contributing to the projects outlined within the contract network directed enhanced service (DES), all while working closely with the pharmacists and other pharmacy technicians in our team. We have great links with our local prescribing team, our community pharmacies, the local DGHs, the Primary Care Training Hub and the new ICS. These links mean we can support and work with our colleagues from all sectors to give our patients high quality medicine support.
About us
GPA is a GP federation providing a pharmacy service to 3 PCNs. We aim to enhance patient experience within Primary Care. The Collaborative Care Team is also part of GPA and has pharmacy input. We are passionate about training and supervision, supporting our staff to achieve their potential. As a team we work closely with other services. This means we are aware of local issues and can work to overcome any issues across healthcare boundaries.
Grand Union PCN covers five practices; Abington Medical Centre, Abington Park, King Edward Road, Leicester Terrace and Greenview. All practices are familiar with the benefits of a pharmacy team.
