Job summary

Northamptonshire Action for Happiness Hub was founded in February 2017 and constituted in June 2019. The hub has grown from Northampton to Northamptonshire and has multiple programmes of activity that support individuals to adopt the ’10 Keys to Happier Living’. Northamptonshire has become the exemplar site for the central international charity.

The work of the Action for Happiness Northamptonshire Hub (AfHNH) is largely undertaken by committed people offering their time and expertise in a voluntary capacity. To ensure the ongoing success and further momentum of the Hub's work in relation to establishing a social movement with the aim of promoting the health and wellbeing of the population of Northamptonshire it has become necessary to appoint a paid Coordinator. The post will be located within the GPA and will coordinate actions to achieve the strategic aims and objectives of AfHNH.

Main duties of the job

The role is to coordinate the various projects associated with Action for Happiness and to grow a social movement spreading the ‘10 Keys to Happier Living’ in Northamptonshire. This requires a test and learn and flexible approach in partnership with the Action for Happiness Northamptonshire Executive and Steering Groups. The role is being hosted by General Practice Alliance in partnership with the Action for Happiness Northamptonshire Hub.

The postholder will champion and cascade the central Action for Happiness pledge “I will try to create more happiness and less unhappiness in the world around me”. The post is varied and will work across health, social and, third sector organisations as well as the community to encourage individuals and organisations to take action to support their own personal wellbeing and to encourage those in their (social) networks to adopt the ’10 Keys to Happier Living’.

The post holder will understand the importance of wellbeing and be using the ’10 Keys to Happier Living’ in their own lives. This is an exciting time to join both General Practice Alliance and Action for Happiness Northamptonshire as both organisations are growing and expanding within Northampton and Northamptonshire. Most importantly this role will support our county to take action to be ‘Happier and Kinder, Together.’
