Job summary
To
provide general reception and office duties to the practice within an
efficient, safe and effective working environment. To be the first point of
contact for patients and visitors and be friendly, welcoming and courteous at
all times.
Main duties of the job
General:
Attend front
desk and answer telephone promptly in order to take messages, visits,
appointments etc, answering queries and informing the doctor, nurse or other
clinician if necessary.
Ensure that reception and the
waiting room are kept tidy.
Ensure that messages are passed
on in a timely manner.
Attend meetings arranged
within the practice, and further education if required.
Cover shifts for
holidays/sickness as required.
Maintain own personal development,
including completing mandatory training as required.
Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Due to
the ever-fluctuating nature of the NHS, General Practice has to adapt to
many changes and a receptionist's role will inevitably change to accommodate
this. If this is necessary, you will be given additional training in order
to meet the needs of the practice.
About us
We are a well-established practice in Burton-On-Trent, delivering a wide range of services to our 10,500 patients with the support of our 3 GP Partners, Salaried GP, Nurses and Health Care Assistants. We are also assisted by Community Nurses and a Community Midwife.
We have a full-time Assistant Practice Manager supported by the Lead GP for Practice Management. We are currently expanding our Administration Team. Reception is lead by our Reception Manager who supports a team of 9 receptionists.
We operate from purpose built premises with staff parking facilities.

Knowledge of the EMIS clinical system would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.
The right person needs to be literate, responsible and a good communicator. He/she needs to work well and accurately and be able to work alone and as part of a team. The successful applicant will need to be flexible to cover for holidays/sickness if required.
