Job summary

We are a vibrant, family-friendly team seeking a salaried doctor. 7 sessions are available. We have 18,000 patients, 8 partners and 3 salaried doctors, plus a full primary health care team.

Informal discussions welcome and encouraged.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic salaried GP for 7 sessions to join a very busy practice.

Duties will include a mix of face to face, on-call, telephone appointments plus some admin duties such as checking blood results and Docman letters. We use Emis Web and Docman. We have well established processes in place such as EZ Doc to help reduce GP administration as well as GP Assistants.

We have recently completed the Accelerate Access Programme where we reviewed multiple processes such as booking appointments and med reviews. We have implemented more efficient ways of working to benefit all practice staff and patients, including the introduction of E-Consult.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1.The duties of the post are to provide a full range of general medical services and which will include domiciliary visits as deemed appropriate.

2.The post holder is expected to support the partners of Winyates Health Centre in providing all services outlined in the GMS Core Contract and also in the aims and objectives of the Practice.

3.The post holder is expected to support and input into the aims of the practice in areas of clinical governance, good practice, quality outcomes framework, enhanced services, practice audit, referral review and any other improvement plans as determined by the practice.

4.The post holder is expected to maintain current and good standards of clinical knowledge.

5.The post holder is encouraged to utilise and develop any skills for

the improvement of services to patients, such as minor operations, child health surveillance, family planning training etc.. This will be subject to presentation of the appropriate certificates and update of relevant courses.

6.The post holder is expected to maintain and keep good standards of computerised clinical records at all times.

2)Clinical duties

1.You are contracted to provide a number of sessions each week. Your time table is negotiable and will be agreed upon your appointment, however, it would be usual to have a set weekly pattern of clinical duties.

2.A full time post holder will be contracted to work 9 sessions (37.5 hours) per week.

These can be on any day Monday to Friday normally between the hours of 8.30 am and 18.30 hours.

In addition, you are expected to provide your prorata share of extended hours appointments, which will be before 8am, after 6.30pm or on a Saturday. Extended hours appointments will be taken back as time in lieu.

(These times may be varied if the practice is required by the CCG at any time to deliver additional early or late sessions or weekend working.)

3. Face to face and telephone appointments are scheduled at 10 minute intervals. 18 am and 16 pm.

4.You will be required to make home visits within the session time specified.

5.You will be expected to cover a prorata share of on call duties.

6.Clinical duties will include seeing people with acute conditions, ongoing chronic conditions which will also include reviews based on the QOF

7.You are expected to follow up results, x-rays, correspondence that you have generated yourself (investigations and queries related to your consultations).

(Additional sessions: The Practice may agree with a practitioner that he or she should undertake work which is not specified in his or her Job Plan by way of additional nominal sessions or fractions thereof. The extra session(s) shall be remunerated on a pro rata basis to a full-time practitioners salary. Any such agreement shall be reviewed when required but at least annually and will be terminable at three months notice on either side).

8.You are expected to deal on a daily basis with telephone queries from patients or other health care professionals that arise.

9.You will be expected to provide support for any students or trainees in the practice when this has been approved by the Partners.

10.You may be expected to become responsible for particular areas of practice development.

11.You may be expected to be responsible for an area of the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF).
