Job summary
The Medical Secretary is primarily responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial duties and the provision of general support to the wider multi-professional team. A sound professional working relationship will be required with the GPs and staff working within the Practice. The role requires high levels of organisation and excellent interpersonal skills.
The post is for 30 hours per week and the role includes:
- Fast and accurate audio typing
- Acting as the central point of contact for patients with referral queries
- Liaising with multi-professional team members and external agencies to arrange appointments and follow up information
- Familiarity with EMIS Web clinical software systems and Docman
- Use of Lexacom digital dictation software
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
- display the highest levels of discretion, tact and confidentiality
- be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and IT skills
- have a keen eye for details and able to check own and others work
- have the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels by telephone, in writing and face to face
- be able to work under pressure and to deadlines
- be able to prioritise own workload and multi-task
