Job summary

Our candidate must be enthusiastic and computer literate, preferably with experience in using EMIS WEB although this is not essential as full training will be given on induction.  The role is a wide and varied  and the successful candidate will provide a range of administration duties such as summarising, read-coding and searches, managing electronic messages, using own initiative, providing a comprehensive administration/clerical service and attending meetings within the practice. You will be organised, quick thinking, be a problem solver, and be empathetic and caring towards our patients, their families and your colleagues. You will be a person who likes working in a team but you should also be able to take responsibility for getting on with your work supporting the smooth running of the practice.   

Main duties of the job

RECEPTION duties.

Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team, processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional. Register new patients, temporary residents and any requiring immediate and necessary treatment, carefully checking all details for accuracy and enter on computer registration link. Taking messages and passing on information. Managing incoming electronic data including clinical documents, patient requests/emails, virtual data and medication request. Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and provider. Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION. Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail. Filing and retrieving paperwork. Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures.
