Having half day on-call sessions and 15 minute appointments allows our clinicians to provide a holistic, patient focused service, whist ensuring the physical and mental wellbeing of our team.
You will work autonomously alongside our welcoming and supportive Nursing and Administration team.
As a training practice we welcome applications from newly qualified GPs as well as those who have experience to share.

Main duties of the job
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care under a GMS contract -including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, test results and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Spinney Brook Medical Centre is made up of two semi-rural practices based in East Northamptonshire. We are a friendly , patient focused practice offering general medical services to our practice population of 11,500 patients. Our highly skilled team currently includes 4 Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 9 nurses including 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners (one of which support our care home and housebound patients), Minor Illness nurse practitioners, Nurse Associate, Clinical Pharmacist, Dispensary team, Social Prescriber, Health Care Assistants and a large Administrative Team.
The Practice is an active member of East Northants Primary Care Network and supports the East Northants Extended Access Hub.

The successful candidate will be required to participate in a variety of duties including:
- Generic prescribing of services adhering to local and national guidelines.
- Supporting the nursing team with effective management of long-term conditions.
- Processing administration in a timely manner, including referrals, prescription requests, results, documents, reports and patient tasks.
- On a rotational basis undertake the half day duty doctor role.
- Ensure accurate clinical records.
- Work collaboratively accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
- Cover colleagues, results, prescriptions and admin duties when they are absent from the surgery.
- Undertake home visits as required.
- Adhere to best practice, through clinical guidelines and participate in audits.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the practice eg, clinical governance, training, HR.
- Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all the staff regularly promoting a culture of continuous improvement and shared learning.
There are also a number of meetings to attend such as:
- Monthly clinical meeting where learning is shared from significant events, medication updates or innovative process suggestion.
- Protected Learning Time where the whole team discuss upcoming changes, opportunities or issues facing the surgery.
- Monthly 2 to 1 GP support time with a partner to discuss any challenging patients or issues you are facing.
There may be on occasion a requirement to carry out other tasks depending on workload and staffing levels.
