Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our small, friendly nursing team. Full or part time hours to cover Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm plus occasional evenings and weekends. Primary Care experience preferred. Extra training available.

Main duties of the job

Must be registered nurse. Duties will include treatment room, chronic disease management, cervical cytology, vaccinations and immunisations, minor illness. Must have ability to work alone as well as part of the team.

About us

Box Surgery is a semi-rural practice in the village of Box, with a list size of 7600 patients from surrounding areas. There are three partners and 6 salaried GPs and we are a training practice for GP registrars. The nursing team comprises registered nurses, health care assistants and a phlebotomist.

Job responsibilities

Job Title: Practice Nurse

Reports to: Senior Partner / Practice Manager

Main Purpose: To ensure that effective, appropriate and high standard nursing care is delivered to practice population

Main Responsibilities:

Treatment Room work e.g. Wound Care,Cytology,Asthma Checks,Diabetes Checks,Hypertensive Checks,CKD Checks,IHD Checks,Venepuncture,Travel Health,Contraception (including injections),Assisting with Minor Surgery

Maintain clinical guidelines e.g. Infection Control,Vaccine Storage and use,Wound Management

Promote evidence based care, evaluate methods used andchange appropriately

Work to policies and procedures agreed with the partnership

Be responsible for appropriate use of resources e.g. stock and equipment

Ensure all nursing activity is recorded in patients computerised records

Carry out audit of activity

Attend meetings as necessary

Liaise with other members of the PHCT

Maintain standards in accordance with the NMC Code of ProfessionalStandards of Practice and Behaviour
