Job summary

The Mill Medical Practice is a friendly, highly regarded practice based in Godalming, Surrey. We are looking for a salaried doctor to join our supportive team for 4-8 sessions we are very happy to be flexible for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

As a team player you will work closely with the practices multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality patient focused care to our patient population.

  • Full GMC registration required
  • Applications would be welcomed from newly qualified as well as experienced GPs.
  • Clean driving licence and use of vehicle for patient visits is essential
  • Knowledge of using EmisWeb is desirable

Salary is dependent on qualifications and skills.

About us

We are a successful, training practice with eight partners, and five salaried doctors. We are extremely proud of our excellent administrative, nursing and health care assistant support. The practice has a longstanding ethos of supporting all medical staff irrespective of their role.

In addition we are an active member of our PCN, along with four other surgeries. We currently host a paramedic, first contact physiotherapist, GPIhms, pharmacist and pharmacy technician. We provide high quality clinical care to over 16,000 patients, rating outstanding in our last CQC inspection. We use EMIS Web, Docman, Lexacom and EPS.

The practice is located in purpose built premises on the outskirts of Godalming, which we moved to fourteen years ago. We offer a wide range of enhanced services including minor surgery, contraception and anticoagulation. Frailty is a particular area of interest for the practice.

The practice has many external clinical commitments. We offer regular sessions for The Meath Epilepsy Charity, Broadwater Lodge, Eastlake, Signature, Jubilee House, La Verna, Charterhouse and Priorsfield Schools. In addition we provide two clinical sessions at Milford Hospital offering support to the discharge to assess and urgent community response teams.

Clinical

Consultations

  • Routine and emergency
  • Each session = 16 appointments, 2 telephone calls, 1 visit
  • The working day runs from 08.30 18.30
  • Monday one visit, but mandatory attendance at the lunchtime meeting
  • Home visits - expectation of 1 visit per session worked
  • Equitable share with other Doctors
  • Covering partners
  • Cover at external sites (local private schools, care/nursing/residential homes)
  • Equitable share of workload when a member of the Clinical Team is away
  • Share of cover for doctors when they are on leave
  • On call duties when requested by the partnership

Prescribing

  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Prescribing within locally agreed guidelines
  • Dealing with workflow queries, blood results, prescriptions, medical reports and examinations, referral letters (NHS and private) and correspondence(Docman) by the end of the working week
  • Taking an equitable share of the queries and workload from the wider MDT team
  • Making professional autonomous decisions with either self-referred patients or those referred by another member of the MDT team
  • Recording and making contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards

Management & Administration

  • Work alongside the clinical team to achieve QOF targets
  • Participate in weekly MDT meetings on a Monday lunchtime (12.30 14.00) to include:
  • Gold Standard Framework with District Nurses and Community Matron
  • Children at Risk with Health Visitors
  • Clinical topics
  • Audit presentations
  • Significant event analysis
  • Participate in clinical audit
  • Teaching and training
  • Medical Students
  • Doctors in training
  • Assist practice to maintain GP Training status
  • To comply with Confidentiality, Data-protection (under Data Protection Act 1998), Health and Safety (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974)
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and evidence-based practice
  • Attending training where appropriate for the role (eg. CPR and Anaphylaxis)
  • Any work that is funded under a LES payment is undertaken in such a way to ensure that the practice will be remunerated

  • Will take own responsibility for successful annual appraisal and revalidation
