We aim to provide high quality healthcare to our patients who live in and around Chiswell Green, Park Street and Bricket Wood in St Albans.
Hours are negotiable , minimum 24 hours per week over 4 days. Ideal hours for the Surgery would be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But we are open to discussion with the right person.
Main duties of the job
Experienced Practice Nurse/Nurse Practitioner with more than one year experience in General Practice. General nursing duties essential - specialist interests in long-term conditions (e.g. asthma/COPD), elderly care and/or cancer care desirable.

Key responsibilities:
- General nursing services, such as wound care, cervical cytology, health screening, injections, travel health, child immunisations and adult vaccination and immunisation programmes.
- Develop specialist nursing skills to provide additional care for long-term conditions and diseases such as asthma/COPD care, cancer reviews and elderly care checks.
- Deliver care according to current guidelines including the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines, Chief Medical Officer guidance and evidence-based care.
- Ensure that the clinical working environment is organised, safe and efficient - as a minimum, to meet CQC requirements.
- Maintain efficient systems for stock control, ordering and claiming of prescribed items.
- Support the Practice to achieve its requirements within the QOF framework, enhanced services, targets and other policies and protocols.
- Continue to develop other clinical competencies as agreed with the Practice.
- Communication
- Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating.
