Job summary

The successful candidate will: Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service in a courteous, efficient and effective wayUndertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be a good team player and a people person, have strong IT and organisational skills, be of an unflappable nature and have an excellent ability to multi-task. Flexibility to cover holidays and sickness will be required. This is a par-time role for 21.5 hours and shifts will be between the hours of 7:45 and 19:00.

About us

The Grove Medical Centre formed on 1st July 2019 from the merger of Bute House Surgery and Newland Medical Practice, both on the Wootton Grove site in Sherborne. We are a friendly team of 60 members of staff who strive to create the best service possible for our patients.

Job responsibilities

The role includes: Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system. Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional or management. Taking messages and passing on information Filing and retrieving paperwork.Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information. Initiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers.Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning.Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required. These may be on days you do not normally work, however you are expected to attend and will be paid overtime.
