Job summary
We are
looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) / Phlebotomist to join our friendly
Practice team of healthcare professionals to work
circa 20 - 30 hours a week .
Previous
experience in a similar role is essential with the relevant courses having been
completed to carry out the main duties and responsibilities as shown below.
Further training can be provided
for the right candidate to supplement/expand existing skills.
Main duties of the job
Able to complete the following Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To work closely with the Practice Nurses and other health care team members
- Perform patient health checks for new and existing patients
- Organise/fit equipment for 24 hour BP & ECG recording for patients
- General Phlebotomy duties
- Assist with Minor Ops / Coil clinics
- B12 Injections under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner
- Processing/management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
- Helping to raise awareness of health & well-being & how it can be promoted
About us
The Practice consists of circa 30 staff working a mix of both full and part time consisting of 9 GP's, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 3 nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants, 2 Pharmacists, and a number other Managerial, administration, reception and support staff.
The Practice has a very friendly working atmosphere where everyone is expected to be highly professional at all times and to be supportive of each other to ensure the best possible care is provided at all times to all of its patients.

Experience
Essential
- Previous experience working as a Phlebotomist with the appropriate courses having been successfully completed.
- Completed the appropriate training in safeguarding, infection control and data security and confidentiality.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a GP Practice
Qualifications
Essential
- A good standard of education with good GCSE grades and especially in the key subjects of English and Maths.
- Qualified in Phlebotomy
Desirable
- Qualified to NVQ level 2 / 3 in health and social care
