The role will encompass working across two sites in Ash Vale and Frimley Green, working with a dynamic team of professionals. Bartlett Group Practice is a training practice and welcomes the opportunity to evolve your learning and grow within our practice team.

This role will be working within our existing reception team, speaking with a variety of patients and delivering excellent care. The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working in a primary care environment, but this is not essential as training will be provided.

They will be an excellent communicator, work well under pressure, be able to effectively manage their time, be flexible and be able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.

The successful applicant will work part time hours, as listed. These shifts are not changeable and applicants must be able to work all the shifts listed.

Previous reception experience is helpful but not essential. You will need to have excellent communication skills with a natural aptitude for building relationships with patients and colleagues, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage the flow of patients arriving at the reception desk, for appointments, prescriptions or queries.
  • Taking calls from patients and discussing symptoms to navigate their medical needs, actively signposting patients to the most appropriate service.
  • Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
  • Making appointments on EMIS, by processing appointment requests for today and future appointments from patients.
  • Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously.
  • Provide administrative support to clinical team/practice team via tasks.
  • Receiving specimens from patients.
  • Keeping reception and working areas tidy.
  • Regularly checking task lists.
  • Taking requests for home visits and ensure they are recorded and processed correctly.
  • To offer general assistance to colleagues/practice team, communicating with the clinical team to complete requests and resolve problems.
  • Maintain and manage patient records ensuring information is accurate.
  • Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Providing holiday and sickness cover.
  • Open/close the practice as and when necessary ensuring the premises are prepared in readiness for the morning session.
  • Anything else that is custom and practice to enable the smooth running of the Practice or as requested by management.

We are one GP practice working across two sites in Frimley Green and Ash Vale, providing care for a population of around 29,000 patients. Situated around the Surrey Hills, we are an ever-growing and evolving practice looking to provide a great opportunity for a receptionist to join our friendly, hardworking team.

We are the biggest practice in the Surrey Heath Primary Care Network, and we are constantly evolving. We have a dynamic range of around 90 staff, which includes clinical and administrative staff.
