Job summary

A Clinical Assistant will support the smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administrative tasks relating to clinical care on behalf of the GPs and Nurses freeing up their time to focus on the patient and clinical tasks

We can offer some flexibility with the hours and days of work for the role. Prospective candidates should use the 25 hours over 4 to 5 days as a guideline and we will accept small variances on this

Main duties of the job

Ordering clinical supplies and maintaining sufficient stock levels

Cold Chain audit management

Manging the rotation and storage organisation of vaccinations and medicines whilst liaising with the Practice Manager and nurses for the ordering of vaccination supplies

Completing Tele-Dermatology referrals

Managing patient waiting lists for medical investigations and procedures and booking appointments with patients directly over the telephone

Processing a number of simple pathology reports according to set protocols and taking suitable action and follow-up as per guidance.

Assisting a qualified vaccinator in the administrative recording of vaccination clinics

Loading appointment rotas onto the clinical system

Organising the upkeep, servicing and calibration of medical equipment through third parties

Management and booking of patients into planned clinics (Learning disability, Care Homes

Taking, and disseminating, Nurse meetings notes.

Maintaining annual leave records

Coordination of student placements

Liaising with Child Health over baby Vaccinations schedules

Follow-up of non-attendance for clinics with patients

Manage clinician completion of training and updates

Recalling of patients via invitation to attend planned clinics

Market Surgery is delighted to be advertising for a Clinical Assistant to join our practice. We are a modern forward thinking practice based in Wath-Upon-Dearne, Rotherham. We provide excellent primary care to almost 12,000 local residents from our modern purpose built premises with 18 clinical rooms. Our practice benefits from excellent transport links and is easily accessible from surrounding areas with Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield all within a 30 minute commute of the practice. Our clinical system is TPP SystmOne.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above

Experience

Essential

  • Must have customer/patient care skills and have worked in a customer/patient facing environment.
  • Secretarial/Administrative experience.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to compile and analyse statistical information.
