Job summary

Knockin Medical Centre is a rural practice with a diverse population of 4000 patient spanning North Shropshire with a small number in Wales.

We recently ranked second in the West Midlands in a patient satisfaction survey. We provide 15minute appointments and our small size lends itself to improved patient continuity. Our administrative team are friendly and supportive to patients and clinicians which improves the quality of care provided. Our aim is to quickly adapt systems to evolve to the ever-changing landscape of healthcare, but fundamentally retaining a personal service to patients.

We will provide clinical and pastoral support, social opportunities, mentorship and learning opportunities to help integration into our team. We are close to the A5 and there is a private car park available to staff. Salary competitive, with an excellent work / life balance.

Main duties of the job

Provision of General Medical Services, Enhanced Services, and work with the Primary Care Network, in accordance with the GMS and other practice contracts. Continuing professional development opportunities, and regular practice meetings.

About us

Knockin presently has 2 GP Partners and 3 Salaried GPs. With a steadily increasing list size, we are looking to add to our GP clinical team. There is a lead nurse, one further registered nurse, one Health Care Assistant and a phlebotomist in post. As part of the Shropshire Rural Alliance Primary Care Network we are also supported by a first point of contact physiotherapist as well as a visiting paramedic service 2 Pharmacists and a Pharmacist Technician.

We are a well-established team with a low turnover of staff. We welcome prospective applicants in for an informal chat with the clinical team, admin team, and a tour of the Practice.

Job responsibilities

Salaried GP Job Plan

Purpose:

Core activities and tasks you will be expected to undertake whilst you are working at the practice include GP clinical appointments in the practice which will be face to face or else over the telephone, home visits, medical examinations and all other day to day clinical duties that a Doctor in the Practice undertakes.

Clinic Sessions:

AM: 12 fifteen minute appointments

PM 12 fifteen minute appointments

Dispensary queries: 5 queries am 5 queries pm

Visits: Usually provided by PCN paramedic visiting service but availability if needed.

You are not required to be involved with other issues relating to the Practice Management responsibilities such as maintenance of the practice premises nor any practice business concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

AREA ASSOCIATED TASK/DUTY

General medical services

Providing healthcare and medical services to all patients

Participate in extended access and Duty GP rota when scheduled.

Travel within the practice area to attend home visits when required.

Dealing with paperwork, correspondence and test results associated with patient care.

Providing choice, for patients who are being referred to Secondary Care

Contemporaneous notes should be recorded to ensure accurate details of patient care and in accordance with recording data for the Quality & Outcomes Framework.

Participate in and operate clinical governance methods and systems approved by the Partnership or Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin ICS

Dealing with medication queries raised by patients, along with prescribing and onward referral to internal and external clinicians, where appropriate

Review, action, and complete tasks that are received by other members of the clinical and/or administration team that are pertinent to the effective care of patients.

Follow-up results, x-rays, and correspondence you have generated.

Working relationships

Liaising with other members of the Primary Care Health Team and other agencies as appropriate, to ensure good relationships are maintained at all times with patients, colleagues, and other agencies

Non-NHS related work

Carry out work considered outside the NHS, such as medical examinations, certificates and reports etc, where the income is retained by the employer. All fees received by you, by virtue of your position in the Practice, shall be paid to the Practice.

Continuing professional development

Maintaining a high standard of care to patients by showing a commitment to continuing professional development and by participation in clinical meetings and Practice development days

Meetings

You will participate in monthly Clinical Meetings to review care provided to a range of patients.
