Job summary

The purpose of the role is to establish and maintain effective financial management within the practice.

The postholder will manage the Finance Assistant and work closely with the GP Finance Partner and the Practice Manager.

Setting up and managing systems and processes which maximise practice income and ensure value for money, and providing accurate and timelyfinancial and budgeting information to support decision making.

Main duties of the job

Liaise with the accountants and auditor as required

Manage Practice accounts; submit year-end figures promptly and liaise with the Practice accountant

Monitor and reconcile income and expenditure statements and purchase/sales ledger transactions

Support the Finance Partner and Practice Manager to develop an annual budget

Monthly cashflow analysis and forecasting

Preparation of financial information for funding applications, reports, or decision making

Line management of the Finance Assistant and ensure that workload is managed across the finance team

Claim monies owed via the local and national systems

Maximise income by setting up and following process to identify unclaimed income

Identify opportunities to reduce expenditure and ensure value for money

Work with the HR Officer to liaise with our payroll provider to manage our payroll and pension provision

Carry out any other work or duties as reasonably requested

With over 21000 patients we have a large team including 5 Partners, 8 Salaried GP's, 1 Paramedic, 5 Practice Nurses, 5 Health Care Assistants & a large non clinical team including our team of Receptionists, a Practice Manager, Operations Manager, Finance & HR support.
