- The purpose of the post is to assist the GPs and nursing team in the delivery of a safe and high quality primary care service for the Practice population.
- The post holder will undertake delegated tasks and duties under direct or indirect supervision.
- The post holder will work within clear parameters and line of accountability after appropriate training and assessment of competencies.
- Job Summary:
- Working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered practitioner and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Assisting in minor ops with a focus on vasectomy procedures

Phlebotomy
Patient health checks
Blood pressure, temperature & pulse
Urinalysis
Diabetic foot checks
Ear irrigation
Care planning checks prior to annual review
ECGs
Removal of wound sutures.
Travel Health Advice
INR testing
Smoking cessation
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
Vaccine/cold chain storage/emergency drugs, monitoring and recording
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting GPs with women's Health and Minor Surgery clinics
Teledermatology using the digital microscope and web camera to take images and make referrals on the Teledermatology web portal.
Ordering supplies of medical consumables
To carry out any other duties that the GPs feel are within your capabilities
Communication
Communicate clearly with patients/carers and relatives about the presenting condition and planned care.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Work collaboratively with all colleagues and outside agencies.
Awareness of data protection issues.
