Job summary
Kingswell Surgery is looking for a part-time dispensing/prescription clerk to join our friendly team. The role is available up to 15 hours per week, with actual hours and days to be agreed.
This role is a support role to the current dispensers working under their direction, handing out filled prescriptions, processing repeat requests and helping to manage incoming stock/deliveries. The post holder will be expected to work longer hours during periods of annual leave and sickness where required, so flexibility is a requirement.
Main duties of the job
Issue paper and
electronic prescriptions to dispensing and non-dispensing patients within the
required timescales for monthly repeat prescriptions
Answering medication
queries from patients, staff members and pharmacies/care homes
Inputting prescription
orders.
Promotion of electronic
repeat dispensing and online ordering .
Liaise with patients
and healthcare providers to obtain correct prescription information.
Manage prescription requests from vulnerable/high priority patients and care
home staff.
Comply with legal and professional requirements, accepted guidance on
professional practice, and with safe systems of work for re-authorising repeat
prescriptions
Be aware of monitoring
requirements for selected drugs or categories of drugs and follow up required monitoring
with patients concerned
Keep up to date with
the Practices formulary and the National Restricted Drugs List.
Liaise with external
pharmacy services and patients to resolve queries and communicate changes tomedications
Build good working
relationships with local Pharmacies
Check emails and tasks
regularly, Actioning them appropriately
Establish and maintain
filing and administrative systems
Undertake training as
required to support safe and effective services for the Practice.
Ensure compliance with
Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
Undertaking
other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed.
About us
Kingswell Surgery is a dispensing
practice with approximately 5000 patients. Due to a change in workload, we are
looking for a dispensary/prescription clerk who will project a positive and friendly
image to patients and who is professional, efficient and enthusiastic with a
flexible approach to fill this part-time position. A dispensary qualification whilst not a requirement, would be advantageous.
