Job summary

This is a 34 hour position over 4 days.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30am - 6pm with an hour lunch. Please note that the surgery is open Monday - Friday and provide enhanced hours which will need to be covered on a rotation.

We are looking for a dedicated and productive Medical Administrator to support and enhance our reception team.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are varied and include general reception duties, taking patient enquiries both at front desk face to face and on the telephone, general day to day administration, e.g. econsults, emails, reports, scanning, recalls, prescriptions etc. This post will be half reception and half secretary work.

We are a 5,000-patient practice located in the North of Sunderland. Our premises is easy reached by the A19. We use EMIS Web clinical system.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting, and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.

Duties can include, but are not limited to, supporting the administration and receptionist teams with patient registration, booking appointments, processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner and in accordance with current policies.

To support staff with the distribution of information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
