Fixed Term until 31st March 2025 with a view to change
subject to national DES contracting.
Due to the changes in the ARRS Scheme to introduce General Practitioners,
we are looking to employ a newly qualified General Practitioner to join our friendly, well-established team at Broomfield
Park Medical Centre. You will be part of a supportive, motivated and
committed practice, providing high quality care to patients from a wide range
of socio-economic groups in central Coventry. We also have a branch
practice looking after the students and staff at Warwick
University.
We have 4
sessions available covering both sites, working alongside our team of 4
partners, 7 salaried GPs and nursing staff, supported by our friendly and
efficient administrative team. In
addition, we have an integrated PCN team comprising of clinical pharmacists,
FCPS, care coordinators, social prescribing link workers and mental health
practitioners. The practice utilises
EMIS clinical systems.
Unity PCN is
made up of 3 surgeries in Coventry, with branch sites at Coventry and Warwick
University.
Main duties of the job
To perform as an autonomous general practitioner working independently
and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the
conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting. As a newly or
recently qualified GP, you will benefit from daily support from experienced GP
colleagues.

Job responsibilities
To undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations,
telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing/authorising
repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in
a timely fashion.
Manage a broad range of acute and chronic illnesses, ensuring that care
is delivered in line with evidence-based guidelines and best practices.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting
problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers
within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and
undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
Participate in the management of chronic diseases, such as diabetes,
hypertension, asthma, and COPD, ensuring that patients receive optimal
long-term care.
In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease
management protocols, developing care plans for health
Providing counselling and health education
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed
standards
Collecting data for audit purposes
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or
generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
The post-holder will be required to visit patients during surgery time
in an emergency if clinically indicated.
The post-holder will undertake a share of home visits per week as
allocated.
There is an option for the post-holder to work a share of the PCN
Enhanced Access Service, via a rota system.
