Job summary
We are a busy, rural dispensing GP surgery, with three GP Partners and 5,800 patients, looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to the above Administrator / Receptionist post. With a minimum of 32.5hrs per week the successful candidate will cover both surgery administration and front of house reception. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be able to prioritise, work well under pressure and be comfortable with using computer systems. The ideal work pattern and main responsibilities of this role will be as attached in the job description and personal specification. There will also be a requirement for the appointed person to remain flexible in order to cover absence and/or leave of colleagues.
Main duties of the job
Specific duties will include
· Processing all documents coming into the surgery
· Processing repeat prescription requests
· Operating the internal messaging systems
· Meeting, greeting and checking-in patients arriving for appointments.
· Updating the patient computer record with administrative details of patients e.g. Change of Address
· Processing requests for information from Doctors, Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses and Practice Manager.
· Making appointments through the computer-based appointments system
· Dealing with requests and queries raised by patients visiting the practice.
· Answering the telephone in a timely and appropriate manner.
· Contacting patients by telephone as required.
· Various housekeeping duties including assisting with deliveries, collections and keeping the reception area tidy.
· Other ad hoc tasks required to support the effective and efficient day-to-day running of the practice.
About us
We are a busy, rural GP surgery with a friendly team that includes three full-time GPs, a pharmacist, a nurse practitioner, three long term condition /practice nurses and a health care assistant. The Practice Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the surgery, with the help of the Reception and Patient Services Manager as well as a practice administrator, finance and performance administrator, two part-time medical secretaries, seven part-time receptionists/ administrators, two relief receptionists and a relief administrator.

handling of information and data, and providing administrative support to the Practice
