Job summary

Woodlands Park Health Centre are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly motivated receptionist to join our friendly reception team. This is an essential role within Primary Care that can be fast paced and challenging at times but is core to providing a welcoming and professional service to our patients, staff, and visitors.

Serving a population of 6000 patients in the Wideopen area and surrounding communities, we are forward thinking practice that embraces the use of technology whilst aiming to provide a family focused service that centres on continuity of care.

If successful, you will be joining a supportive team of:

  • 7 Administration staff
  • 3 GPs
  • 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioner
  • 2 Physician Associates
  • 1 Pharmacist
  • 2 Practice Nurses
  • 2 Healthcare Assistants

Previous experience would be advantageous, but full training will be provided.

This role is also eligible for the NHS Pension scheme.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role can be found within the job description but mainly comprise of administrative tasks you would expect within a healthcare environment. These include:

  • Telephone and face to face contact with patients
  • Navigating patients to the most appropriate clinician following training
  • Booking appointments
  • Dealing with queries from patients and organisations
  • Interacting with clinical and administrative staff

About us

Woodlands Park Health Centre is a relatively small practice in North Tyneside and a member of both TyneHealth GP Federation and Northwest North Tyneside Primary Care Network, who work closely together to provide healthcare services.

  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
  • Care navigate patients to the most appropriate clinician when requesting an appointment.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and deal with enquiries effectively.
  • Process prescription requests and ensure they are ready for collection within 48 hours, either electronically or manually.
  • Communicate with the primary healthcare team ensuring all messages are passed on promptly.
  • Receive, record, and enter all home visits onto the clinical system.
  • Dealing with patient queries which may include liaising with other organisations such as hospital trusts.
  • To be responsible for the opening and closing of the practice.
  • To be willing to learn other admin functions in the practice as required.
