Lifeboat Quay Medical Centre are looking for a motivated and committed Advanced nurse Practitioner or Advanced Paramedic Practitioner to join us at an exciting time for the Practice as we position ourselves for the future. You will apply yourself in a practical way and have an excellent team-working ethos. You will need to have a caring, friendly and adaptable nature, be able to work autonomously and perform confidently on your own but also work in collaboration with other members of the team effectively and safely. You will always have GP support and guidance when needed.
Lifeboat Quay Medical Centre a well-regarded and forward-thinking 5 Partner GMS Practice located in the heart of Poole on the beautiful Dorset coast. We have a fabulous state-of-the-art purpose built premises.
Main duties of the job
As a key member of our GP and ANP/APP team you will help shape and develop our Acute Care and Minor Illness service provision.
We operate a daily urgent/acute telephone triage service converting to F2F and follow-up appointments. You will work autonomously, but collaboratively as part of an effective and cohesive clinical team. You will assess, diagnose, plan and initiate treatments and interventions, and operate safely and effectively and within your clinical competence. Ideally you will be an independent prescriber or working towards qualification.
We welcome additional specialist interests and knowledge that would complement and enhance the range of clinical skills within the practice team.
You will demonstrate compassion and sensitivity your practice. You will communicate and work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

Key responsibilities
Clinical practice
- Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis
- Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly, sharing any uncertainty of diagnosis with the patient where needed
- Assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/treatments for patients with complex needs
- Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition (as appropriate)
- Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug- and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan
- * Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice (* subject to successful completion of national training programme as an Independent Prescriber)
- Work with patients in order to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments, provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, including side-effects and interactions
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
