Job summary

St Chads & Chilcompton Surgery are recruiting for a Finance and Payroll Clerk to manage our day to day transactional duties and completing monthly payroll.

Main duties of the job

We are a busy surgery with a branch dispensing surgery at Chilcompton and have a patient list size of approx 12,700.

You must have experience of using Xero payroll software (essential) including VAT and preferably have experience of GP surgery accounting (desirable). We require you to also hold an AAT Qualification to support you in this role.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Entering of data into the practice accounts package to payments made and received

Monthly reconciliation of bank statements for all practice accounts

Checking Open Exeter for payments due from NHS England, CCG and Public Health

Preparing payments to be made by cheque or BACS

Producing reports as required

Use of Xero software

Preparation of the quarterly VAT report and return

Maintain filing and administrative systems relating to the practice accounts so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure

Preparing all records required for the annual accounts audit of the practice finances

To chase debtors to ensure appropriate cash flow

Preparation of the monthly payroll including all additional payments and deductions

Recording of all sick leave in the sick leave diary on the accounts package

Preparation of payroll records for submission to Telepay or via BACS

Retention and secure storage of all records relating to the monthly pay run

Preparation of payments to HMRC in relation to income tax and national insurance

Retention and secure storage of monthly pension statements, updating the NHS pensions and NEST websites with members personal data and contributions
