Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Primary Care Health Care Assistant to join our busy surgery, where your role is vital to the smooth and efficient running of our excellent Nurses team.
We are looking for someone who can be flexible, is hardworking and above all a good team player.
Working pattern will be 20 hours per week and working days Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays. Extended access on a Friday will form part of your normal working hours covering alternate weeks until 20:00.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate willundertakes tasks and duties
listed in the job description.
They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet
the needs of patients, following guidelines, policy and procedures and working
within own competencies. The post will
also include administrative support to the practice team.
About us
We are a large practice located in Warrington serving a population of around 12523 patients. The practice has a friendly, supportive team who work closely. This consists of 6 GP partners, 3 salaried GPs, 2 advanced nurse practitioners, 4 practice nurses, 2 pharmacy technicians, 2 healthcare assistants, 3 Managers and a team of 11 Administrators.
We are part of an active PCN and have good working relationships while sharing good practice with one another.

Job responsibilities
- Undertake, record and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate training and achieved competence;
- Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory;
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions;
- Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being by healthy lifestyle promotion;
- Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence;
- Support and monitor patients during nebulisation therapy;
- Support and monitor patients as requested awaiting transfer to hospital;
- Support the nurse team and respond to requests for assistance with home visits to housebound patients.
- Measure and record following physiological measurements in routine presentation:
- Blood pressure
- Pulse rate and rhythm
- Temperature where indicated
- Height and weight body mass index
- Phlebotomy
- ECG
- Chaperone duties
- Feno testing
- Vaccinations and injections
- New patient health checks
- NHS health screening checks
- Admin tasks allocated after appropriate training
- Allocation of BP monitors and patient teaching
- Allocation of blood glucose monitors and patient teaching
- Restock and maintain clinical equipment, vaccines and drugs
- Assist GPs in procedures as requested e.g. insertion of coils/implants/pessaries
