Job summary
We are seeking a caring motivated and patientfocused healthcare assistant to join our friendly team at St Anthonys Health Centre
Working eighteen point five hours per week you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of safe effective and highquality care for our patients
Under the guidance of our nurses and gps you will carry out a range of clinical tasks including observations phlebotomy ecgs nhs health checks and supporting longterm condition monitoring You will often work onetoone with patients so clear sensitive and professional communication is essential
While previous HCA experience is welcome it is not required as full training will be provided We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic reliable keen to learn and able to build positive rapport with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
As part of our supportive multidisciplinary team you will contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment promoting healthy lifestyle choices and ensuring accurate documentation within our clinical systems

Main duties of the job
the healthcare assistant will support the clinical team by carrying out a range of patientfacing tasks to ensure safe effective and personcentred care
key duties include performing routine observations undertaking phlebotomy and assisting with nhs health checks and longterm condition monitoring the role involves engaging with patients during onetoone appointments offering clear explanations supporting lifestyle discussions and helping patients feel at ease
you will prepare and maintain clinical rooms ensuring equipment is clean safe and fully stocked and accurately record all activity using the practices clinical system the postholder will assist clinicians during procedures such as minor surgery provide chaperone support when needed and contribute to infection prevention measures across the practice additional tasks include administering selected vaccines once trained carrying out feno testing and supporting the care home team with monitoring of residents longterm conditions
working as part of the multidisciplinary team the postholder will help ensure the smooth running of clinics and participate in ongoing training to maintain required competencies

Job Purpose
The Healthcare Assistant will contribute to the efficient delivery of highquality patientcentred care within St Anthonys Health Centre. Working under the direction of nurses and GPs the postholder will undertake a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support patient assessment treatment and health promotion. The role requires excellent communication skills attention to detail and a compassionate approach to patient interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Carry out routine clinical observations including:
- Blood pressure
- Pulse
- Temperature
- Weight and BMI
- Undertake phlebotomy and collect specimens in accordance with practice protocols.
- Support longterm condition management under the supervision of clinicians.
- Conduct NHS Health Checks and assist with wider health promotion activity.
- Perform FeNO testing following training and competency assessment.
- Administer selected vaccines and injections once fully trained and signed off.
- Engage with patients during onetoone appointments, ensuring information is explained clearly and sensitively.
- Support the care home team with longterm condition monitoring for residents.
- Provide chaperone support when required.
- Assist clinicians during procedures such as:
- Minor surgery
- Coil clinics
- Other treatment sessions as needed
Clinical Environmental & Safety
- Prepare, clean and restock clinical rooms daily to maintain a safe, organised environment.
- Maintain infection prevention and control standards at all times.

Documentation & Record Keeping
- Accurately record clinical activity and patient information using the practices clinical system.
- Ensure all documentation is clear, timely and compliant with practice standards.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR and practice policy.
Teamwork & Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, mental health workers, admin staff and other MDT members.
- Participate in clinical meetings, training sessions and competency assessments.
- Engage in continuous professional development relevant to the role.
- Support the smooth running of clinics by coordinating patient flow and preparing resources.
Communication & Patient Support
- Communicate with patients in a calm, clear and professional manner.
- Build rapport quickly and provide reassurance where needed.
