Job summary

Due to an internal promotion, Swallownest Health Centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, polite and highly motivated Patient Services Advisor (Receptionist) with good communication skills who would like to join our friendly and hard working team. The post is working 20 - 25 hours per week to be agreed. The salary is starting from £19,110 pro rata dependent upon experience. 27 days AL, plus 8 days Public Holidays, Automatic enrolment in the NHS Pension Scheme, with the option to opt out. Main duties of the job

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Accurate and up to date information is entered onto the computer.

About us

Swallownest Health Centre is a large practice with approximately 16,500 patients currently across one site. We have 4 GP partners, 8 salaried GP's and a large team of nursing and attached clinical staff, which are all complimented by our administration/reception staff.

Job responsibilities

You will be required to perform such reception/clerical duties as are necessary for the efficient day to day running of the Health Centre. Responsibilities Take care that nothing you do, or omit to do, puts the safety of yourself or others at risk; or compromises a patients right to confidentiality; or compromises the security of the premises and its contents. Ensure that patients and other persons telephoning or calling in to the Health Centre are treated courteously, promptly and efficiently, regardless of their age, race, sex or attitude. Arrange appointments for patients to see a clinician, making appropriate and accurate entries in the computer appointments diary. Greet patients and other visitors to the Health Centre, assess their purpose and requirements and direct them as appropriate. Enter patients attending the Health Centre as arrived in the computer appointment system. Ensure that visitors to the Health Centre sign in and out of the Visitors Register. Provide information to patients about the Health Centre and the services provided. Answer telephone enquiries from patients and other callers. Take messages for the doctors or other health professionals, record them legibly and accurately and ensure they are passed on promptly to the appropriate person. Undertake scanning of all correspondence on to the patient computer records. File in patient records any other items that require filing. File patient records. Keep medical records tidy and in good repair, repairing and replacing when necessary. Accept requests for prescriptions, issue prescriptions to doctors ready for signing, bring warnings of reviews, over and under use to the attention of the doctors, and pass the prescriptions on to the patient or pharmacist once they have been prepared and signed. Prepare invoices for private medical services; collect payments from patients and pass them to the Practice Manager. Ensure all confidential waste is shredded and disposed of in a secure fashion. Keep the consulting rooms stocked with stationery. Keep the reception area/waiting rooms tidy. Any other duties, which from time to time may be necessary.
