Job summary

Come and take a closer look at us at St Peters Health Centre in central Brighton. We are a large, popular practice (20K patients) in the process of moving into state-of-the art modern premises. We are a close and happy group of innovative staff exploring new ways of working together to improve our quality of life.

We have a patient care advisor team that supports our multidisciplinary clinical team. We have 4 nurse practitioners, 2 clinical pharmacists, 2 mental health practitioners, 1 paediatric nurse specialist, 10 salaried GPs, one Nurse partner and three GP partners. We provide a full range of enhanced services, a specialist family planning clinic, a young persons drop in service and have high QOF achievement scores and a good CQC inspection rating.

We are situated in the heart of Brighton's vibrant and bohemian centre surrounded by a wide choice of cafes, bars, restaurants and theatres with good access to a wide range of public transport.

Main duties of the job

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and quick learning individual, with excellent customer service manner, who has a flexible approach, and willing to learn new skills.

Duties include:

Administration

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
  • To work in accordance of written protocols.

Scanning of all incoming post.

Reception

  • Receiving patients consulting with members of practice team.
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and addresses.

Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary.

Appointments

  • Process appointment requests for today, future appointments from patients by telephone and in person, using a computerised system.
  • Deal with visits requests.
  • Recording requests for home visits and contacting duty doctor.

Computer

  • Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records.
  • Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area.
  • Process repeat prescription request in accordance with practice guidelines.

Telephone

  • Answering telephone, taking messages and redirecting queries as appropriate.

Other Tasks

  • Clear rooms after surgeries.
  • Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Willing to undertake all training outlined on the induction programme.
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers.
