Health Care Assistant/Phlebotomist

Job summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated healthcare assistant (HCA) or Phlebotomist to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working as a healthcare assistant or phlebotomist in Primary Care.

Main duties of the job

  • Blood tests / phlebotomy
  • ECG recording
  • Basic wound care and dressing checks
  • Health checks (including height, weight, NHS health checks)
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Urinalysis
  • Assisting colleagues with stock ordering and re-stocking clinical rooms.
  • Assisting the GPs with minor operations and coil clinics.
  • Chaperone support
  • Ensuring medical equipment aligns with infection control protocols
  • Helping to manage clinical waste collections / ensuring sharps bins are replaced when necessary
  • Adhering to clinical guidelines and protocols, seeking guidance from the Nursing Team or clinicians for any clinical decisions
  • Helping to restock clinical rooms with the appropriate levels of supplies and equipment

Located close the centre of Cambridge, this is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic practice. Our main surgery is in Wordsworth Grove, Cambridge and a branch surgery in Boots, Petty Cury, Cambridge City Centre.

Essential

  • Competency and valid certification in all key duties (e.g. phlebotomy, ECG etc.)
  • Experience of SystmOne clinical system
  • Must have a good command of the English language

  • Care certificate qualified
