GP Receptionist

Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed receptionist to join our friendly team during maternity leave. The post is for part time 22 hours per week. We are ideally looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and experience with dealing with the general public. Delivering high quality services is essential.

Duties will include general assistance to the practice team, answering the telephone, care navigation, sign posting patients to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Dealing with patient enquiries both over the telephone and on the front desk. Computer literacy is essential and full training will be given as appropriate.

Rate of pay is to be discussed and will be offered membership of the NHS pension scheme.

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks which will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requests appropriately.
  • Signpost patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
  • Taking messages and passing information on
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
  • Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
  • Input data into the patient's healthcare records as necessary.
  • Calling patients and booking in their monthly / quarterly / yearly checks
  • Receiving samples from patients as appropriate ready for collection from the hospital

About us

Hill Top Medical Centre is a large friendly teaching / training practice with a multi-disciplinary team of other dedicated and highly skilled healthcare professionals comprising of 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GP's and 1 long term P/T Locum GP, 1 Lead Nurse, 2 Locum Nurses, 1 Locum Paramedic, 1 HCA and 1 P/T Locum HCA. 1 Lead Pharmacist,1 Pharmacy Technician, and 1 P/T Locum pharmacist.

Alongside we have a large administration team to support patients and the work undertaken in surgery, which the successful applicant will be a part of.

We are CQC rated GOOD in all 5 areas.
