Job summary

We are a progressive and friendly 7 GP training Practice and are offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified, enthusiastic and motivated Treatment Room Nurse to join our existing team in Longridge, in the heart of the Ribble Valley.

This is an additional post and we envisage that the post holder will work approximately 32 hours per week, joining our existing multi skilled nursing team consisting of 3 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 trainee Nursing Associates and a HCA.

We are a training Practice and are keen to further develop and expand our team, as such evidence of primary care nursing is not essential as full training will be given as we are keen to encourage all of our staff to develop to their full potential, in a supported environment.

You will be employed by Drs Griffin, Lakeland, Gee and Miller and will be eligible to join the NHS Pension Scheme.

Main duties of the job

This role involves all treatment room services and wound care, ear syringing, cervical cytology, INR monitoring, childhood and adult vaccinations, ECGs, travel health, venepuncture and NHS health checks.

To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care to our practice population. Supported by Senior Nurses, the post holder will deliver all tasks undertaken by a Registered Nurse appropriate to the treatment room and the services provided. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team, having regard to current training, professional boundaries, policies and protocols relating to the treatment room. To provide nurse leadership as required.

Job responsibilities after relevant training:

Professional:

  • Able to document Consultations according to NMC guidelines, using a computer template
  • Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines
  • Assessing wounds presented opportunistically by patients
  • Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions
