Job summary

To provide a safe and timely delivery service to housebound patients and other patients directed by the Practice Partnership to receive a home delivery service for their medication.

Major duties and responsibilities:

      • To take home deliveries of medication on a routine basis for 2 days per week on a prescribed route agreed with the Dispensary Manager

      • To assist with the urgent medication to be taken to patients homes

      • To ensure all medication is transported in a safe and suitable manner

      • To maintain the vehicle in a safe and suitable condition ensuring appropriate insurance, road fund licence and MOTs are in place where appropriate for the vehicle used

      • To ensure all actions are correctly documented

      • To work inside their own competence, not offering advice on the use of medication to patients, not-withstanding providing signposting back to the practice

Main duties of the job

The post holder should have a helpful disposition towards patients who maybe under stress. They should at all times offer the highest level of customer care to our patients and their relatives and carers.

Accountable to: General Manager

Purpose of Post

      • In the course of delivery information and medication to patients ensure that no patient confidentiality is breached and to respect the privacy of every patient and act appropriately

      • In the performance of their duties outlined in this job description the post holder may have access to confidential information in relation to patients medication and or their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. The post holder will be required to act in the strictest confidential manner with all information available to them.
