Job summary

Looking for a 3-4 session fixed term GP/long term locum GP to join our dynamic team at St Johns Way Medical Centre

We are a friendly, forward-thinking team, committed to training, and focused on giving the best possible care to our diverse patient population. We currently have 6 salaried GPs and 5 partners working together.

We would welcome a salaried colleague with specialist interest or portfolio working. We are open to someone at any stage of their career, including newly qualified GPs and Fellowship GPs . We can offer mentorship to any GP joining us, if helpful to them.

Main duties of the job

Undertake all the duties associated with the role of a General Practitioner required by the GMS contract

Support and contribute to the development of practice clinical procedures and protocols

Accurate and timely input of patient data onto the clinical system

Carrying out clinical audits as appropriate

Completion of reports for solicitors, insurance companies and others

Liaise with other health care professionals when required

Act in a way that protects the confidentiality of patients and maintains the integrity of the patient/practice relationship

Take an active role and contribute to practice meetings

Take on Lead responsibilities in any agreed area of practice management

Take responsibility for self-care and wellbeing

Take on Lead responsibilities in any agreed area of clinical management

Attend practice training sessions whenever possible

Stay up to date with medical training in line with your Personal Development Plan

Contribute to the development and improvement of the practice

  • 14 GP and nursing Consultation Rooms
  • 11 GPs including 5 GP Partners
  • Varying numbers of trainee GPs ST1, ST2, ST3 and FY2
  • 1 Prescribing Pharmacist & 1 non-prescribing pharmacist
  • 3 Nurses
  • 1 HCA
  • First Contact Physio
  • 1 Practice Manager
  • 1 Operations Manager
  • 11 admin and reception staff

Job responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations and e-consult, telephone triage / consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, other paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

Essential

  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
  • DBS clearance
  • Have had an annual NHS appraisal
  • Have medical indemnity insurance cover for the sessions required

Desirable

  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields
  • MRCGP or equivalent
  • Additional professional interests
