Job summary

Due to practice expansion, we are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our team. Working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The HCA will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Main duties of the job

a. Undertake own caseload including simple dressings clinic, support clinics for chronic disease management (following protocols)

b. Assist clinics ensuring patient care by chaperoning and assisting patients to dress and undress

c. Conduct weight and height measurements, ECG, test and record blood pressure, Peak flow/spirometry testing

d. Undertake immunisations and vaccinations

e. To ensure adequate clinical stock levels and medical stationery maintaining effective stock management. This includes treatment rooms, stock rooms, fridges

f. The checking and recording of medical supplies on receipt

g. The inputting of information in an accurate and timely manner on to the Practices clinical system.

h. Assist the clinics in the Minor Operations suite including pre and post clinic preparations

i. Ensure excellent infection control procedures in treatment and consulting rooms

j. Administration duties to manage delivery of clinical services including infection prevention control

k. Venepuncture

l. Monitor equipment and record as required e.g. fridge temperatures

m. Keep up-to-date with training and clinical procedures appropriate to the role external and internal delivery

n. Work safely at all times in accordance with Practice policies and procedures

o. And any other duties of an appropriate nature requested by the Practice Manager, Clinical Nurse Manager, or GP Partners
