This is a new position. The successful candidate will have experience of working as an independent phlebotomist in a Primary or Secondary Care environment
Main duties of the job
a.
Obtaining
patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b.
Perfoming
venepunture in accordance with practice protocols
c.
Maintaining
accurate patient records on EMIS Web
d.
The
correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
e.
Effective
use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
f.
Ensuring
samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
g.
Maintaining
an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at Shropshire and Telford Hospitals
(SaTH)
h.
Working
collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for
patient related matters
i.
