Job summary

You will work in a team environment preparing and dispensing medication to patients alongside general administrative duties.

Main duties of the job

What you will do:

  • Project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way.

  • Assist in the preparation, dispensing and handing out prescriptions and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the dispensary.

  • Provide quick, efficient and accurate dispensing of medication to the patients and to assist in ensuring effective financial control of the dispensary.

  • Process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses in accordance with the principles of good practice.Skills and qualifications we're looking for:

  • Minimum of NVQ2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills.

  • Dispensing Experience, diligence anddedication.

We are a friendly organised practice who work closely together, tocare for ourpatients, doctors and members of our team.

  • 6 Partners and Employ 26 permanent staff plus bank staff.

Practice Dispenser required for a busy GP practice, providing care to 7150 patients in and around the North Yorkshire market town of Thirsk.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and conscientious team player to join our friendly team providing dispensing services within the practice. Excellent communication skills and dispensing experience are essential together with the ability to build good relationships with both patients and colleagues.

The position involves the full range of dispensing duties including: dispensing medications, processing repeat prescription requests, face to face contact with patients, providing an efficient service to the GPs and other staff.

The successful candidate will need to have a good level of general education and be qualified to at least NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent, as well as being computer literate. A knowledge of the clinical system EMIS Web would be an advantage, although not essential as full training will be given.

Flexibility to cover for holidays and sickness are essential, as is the ability to multi-task while staying organised.

The dispensary is currently staffed between the hours of 08:00 and 18:30 Monday to Friday. The post is for 20-37.5 hours per week, plus holiday and sickness cover.
