Job summary

Bensham Family Practice are looking for a Health Care Assistant who has good communication skills and able to work within our friendly healthcare team. You will be integral in maintaining the functioning of the practice and be able to work under pressure and assist the practice in meeting is primary care targets.

Essentially the post is between 20 to 30 hrs per week ideally over 5 days ( between 4 and 6 hours per day )

Salary is dependent on experience

EMIS web experience preferred

GP practice experience preferred

Main duties of the job

Working under the direct supervision of our experienced nurse and strictly in accordance with practice guidelines and protocols , the Health Care Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Venepuncture

Health Promotion Programmes ( Including Flu, Pneumoccal and other campaigns )

Patient Observations such as Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, BMI and pulse oximetry

Basic Wound Care / Dressing / Suture Removals / Management

Undertake 12 Lead ECG's assessments

Undertake ABPI ( Doppler ) assessments

Undertake Urinalysis

Undertake stock control

Undertake stock checks on expiry dates

Vaccine cold chain / storage monitoring and recording

Act as a chaperone
