Job summary

We require a part time member of staff to join our busy Reception and Administration team.

You will be required to work in a fast paced environment and learn different aspects of GP practice administration which will include: answering telephones, booking appointments, processing patient correspondence, liaising and supporting the clinical and management teams.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to enhance our team with a caring, flexible and motivated individual who has a keen interest in Reception and Administration duties.

The successful candidate must be prepared to work flexible hours, we require them to work 15 hours per week but to be able to provide regular holiday cover which could be up to 36 hours per week in total.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

TELEPHONE DUTIES to include: making / amending appointments for patients ,contacting other providers,managing general enquiries, taking accuratemessages,recording accurate information in patient records, processing repeat prescription requests

MAINTAINING THE PATIENT RECORD to include processing scanned,electronic mail or information sent via the clinical system.

GENERAL RECEPTION DUTIES to include greeting and directing patients/visitors, issuing acute prescription requests, dealing with incoming mail(post & courier),- photocopying, respondingto doctors needs and requests throughout surgery,general housekeeping (tidying doctors rooms, own work areas etc)

Financial Responsibilities to include takingpayments from patients for Private services provided .

Other:A flexible approach is required for this job as it is a very demanding position requiring a high level of inter-personal skill

Awareness of others workloads and assisting

Team work is essential

Confidentiality is imperative

Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload

Attendance at courses and regular team meetings

Keeping personal learning plans

  • You must be comfortable using IT and have a good level of computer literacy.
  • DBS check will be undertaken

Desirable

  • GCSE grade A to C or equivalent in English and Maths is desirable as you must be able to understand and record accurate information.
