Salaried GP - Portfolio Development Role

Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified GP to gain valuable experience and deliver a diverse range of primary care services. This role includes working within a local GP practice with flexibility to also support North Southwark EA Hub.

This position involves delivering routine GP service at New Mill Street Surgery and managing acute, same day cases at the EA hub. The development session offers a chance to pursue a special interest, enhance a clinical service, or take on a leadership role supporting both personal development and the growth of QHS services.

Main duties of the job

New Mill Street Surgery

- Deliver routine and urgent GP appointments to a registered patient list.

- Collaborate with the wider ARRS team to provide holistic care.

Enhanced Access Hub

- Provide timely care for acute presentations.

- Benefit from a manageable workload, mixture of face to face appointments and 111 phone consultations.

General responsibilities

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with best practice and clinical governance.

- Contribute to practice and PCN-wide quality improvement initiatives.

- Participate in clinical meetings and MDT discussions.

- Provide guidance and support to trainees and other health professionals within the team.

QHS is a federation of 14 GP practices in North Southwark, serving 205,000 registered patients. We work closely with the local health & care organisations, including social care, voluntary sector & patient groups to deliver integrated, patient-centered care through the North Southwark Primary Care Network (NSPCN).

New Mill Street Surgery is a friendly & patient-focused practice in Bermondsey, with a registered list size of 7,300 patients. The core team includes 4 permanent GPs, advanced nurse practitioner, practice nurse & a team of receptionists/administrators, all working together to deliver high-quality care. The surgery maintains a strong connection with NSPCN, hosting clinics run by a diverse ARRS team, including First Contact Physiotherapists, Apprentice Nurse Associates & Nurse Associates. Patients also have direct access to a dedicated team of care coordinators, social prescribing link workers, & mental health practitioners.

QHS has been appointed by NSPCN to deliver enhanced access for North Southwark, initially focused on providing additional capacity for patients with acute medical needs throughout the day & out of hours. Over time, the service has expanded to include routine primary care, supporting the wider needs of the local population.

QHS does not hold a VISA sponsorship licence.
