Job summary

This role is to assist the Endoscopy team at Dersingham, neighbouring the Sandringham Estate to provide a high quality and effective service to patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

Undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Lead Endoscopy Nurses

Assistance at clinics ensuring patient care, privacy and dignity by chaperoning and assisting patients to dress and undress

Preparation of endoscopy equipment ensuring safe working practice

Assist the Endoscopist in taking biopsy specimens

Decontamination and maintenance of equipment

Collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal

Ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces, preparing treatment rooms prior to use

Promote a safe, healthy and harmonious working environment, ensuring compliance with SJDS policies and procedures

About us

This role will be based with our small and friendly team at St Nicholas Endoscopy unit in Dersingham, close to the Sandringham estate.

The practice is a Joint Accreditation Group (JAG) accredited Endoscopy Unit which is able to offer one to one patient care in a our purpose built unit.

Responsible to:

Lead Endoscopy Nurses

Working hours:

Full or Part-time

Job Purpose:

Water testing ensuring accurate documentation and monitoring of results.

Ensure adequate infection control procedures in treatment and consulting rooms.

Communicate effectively with patients and their families dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Promote a safe, healthy and harmonious working environment, ensuring compliance with SJDS policies and procedures.

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Administration

The checking and recording of medical supplies on receipt.

Receiving telephone messages in the treatment room, recording and transmitting accordingly.

The inputting of information onto the Practice clinical system SystmOne.

Use of the Practice clinical system for patient searches for clinics and patient recall.

Report significant incidents and adverse events.

Promote the welfare and safeguarding of young people and adults.

General duties

To ensure adequate clinical stock levels and medical stationery and maintain an effective stock management system.

Attend staff meetings and Endoscopy Users Group where required.

Any other reasonable duties which may be requested from time-to-time

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Previous Endoscopy experience is desirable.
