Job summary

The Practice Manager will work closely with the Partners in developing and maintaining an efficient GP Practice. In particular, the role will support the Partners in areas of operational management, personnel management, management of patient and clinical information, and general administrative duties. At all times the post-holder must act in a manner consistent with the code of conduct and appearance representing the Practice and the NHS.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Management

1. Help to establish effective working practices for clinical and non-clinical staff

2. Checking key performance indicators and Quality and Outcome Frameworks (QoF) indicators are being met

3. Organise system for claims and submissions in line with key performance indicators, QoF indicators, and other other practice work that generates income

4. Assist in maintaining stock for clinical/non-clinical operation of the practice

Personnel

1. Assist in the management of the Practice Team including HR management of non-clinical team and (in some cases) clinical team.

2. Assist with induction of new staff

3. Assist in training of new and existing staff

4. Manage staff rotas for clinical and non-clinical staff

5. Manage annual leave process for clinical and non-clinical staff

6. Conduct annual appraisals of non-clinical staff

Management of Clinical and Patient Information

1. Manage patient registration process

2. Manage appointment system

3. Provide administrative support for Chronic Disease Management of patients

4. Oversee processes relevant to patient correspondence, and referrals

General

1. Attend meetings as agreed by the Partner

2. Attend performance and development reviews

3. Understand company policies and procedures as laid out in the Practice Employee Handbook

4. Attend all mandatory training courses

About us

Riverside Family Practice is a friendly GP Practice located at St Peters Centre in the heart of Burnley. Other health care services operate within the building in addition to the leisure centre (gym, swimming, other sports).

The practice team consists of 2 GP Partners, 2 Practice Nurses, a HCA, 5 reception/administration team members and a secretary. The practice is supported by affiliated PCN staff including, but not limited to pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, a first contact physiotherapist and mental health practitioner.

Riverside Family Practice is a training practice and so often has student practitioners in placement and offers a positive environment and support for personal development for clinical and non-clinical staff
