Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to welcome a newly qualified GP (within 2 years post CCT) to our beautiful Georgian city, to work 4 sessions per week, initially on a 12-18 month fixed term contract.

Main duties of the job

We are a very happy and supportive 12,700 patient teaching practice of friendly GPs with a full complementary team of Allied Health Professionals and loyal administrative staff. Low home visits, no nursing homes, no extended hours, no weekend work. The clinical team meet daily for coffee, informal chat and clinical discussions, as well as a formal CPD programme. Our practice adopts demand management strategies to ensure safe and sustainable practice for all clinical staff and patients.

The Pulteney Practice is located in an elegant Grade I listed town house, right in the centre of the historic city of Bath, which boasts outstanding schools and top Universities. We also have a purpose-built modern health centre in the nearby village of Bathampton.

Job description

Job responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES:

Responding to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.

Providing appropriate preventative health care and advice.

Adhering to the practice prescribing formulary.

Participating in clinical governance activity and contributing to the improvement in quality of health outcomes through the practices audit programme.

Clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties necessary for the delivery of the PMS contract.

Providing other services outside of the PMS contract.

Engaging in appropriate educational activity in order to maintain clinical competence and performance, including the completion of objectives agreed by yourself and your appraiser.

Participating in the training and development of nurses and non-clinical staff.

Supporting the practice staff and responding to requests for advice and assistance from the practice reception, secretarial and nursing teams.

To undertake daily tasks such as results, letters, reports, repeat prescribing etc. for own workflow and for other teams as required.

Practice mandatory training to be undertaken during study leave which is allocated as one week per year.
