Practice Nurse or Senior PN

Job summary

Leeds City Medical Practice operates across three local sites with the main site being at Beeston Health Centre.

We are looking to recruit a further Full Time Practice Nurse, although part time would be considered for the right candidate.

Duties will very much depend upon experience as we would ideally like to find someone with Chronic Disease Diploma(s), Contraception or other key skills but we will considerproviding support and training for a registered nurse to develop the skills if they seemed the right fit for the team. If you have a high level of skills and experience we would also consider recruitment at Senior Nurse level (up to £39.7k). A good understanding of the work a Nurse undertakes in Primary Care is essential.

You will be working as part of strong supportive team made up of 10 GP's, 2 Clinical Practitioners, a Nurse Manager, a Lead Nurse, a Senior Nurse and 2 Practices Nurses, 2 HCA's and a Phlebotomist.

Main duties of the job

Areas such as (not all):

• Treatment of long-term conditions
• Review medication
• Anaphylaxis and resuscitation
• Promote health promotion strategies
• Support and manage contraception and cervical cytology
• Following CASH course to assess, evaluate and provide a full contraceptive service
• Insertion and removal of the Contraceptive Implant
• Advise on women's health
• Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisations - adults & children with informed consent.
• Administer vaccinations and advise re healthcare for travelling abroad
• Promote and deliver care for aural conditions.
• Opportunistic wound care
• Undertake Doppler readings. Assess & measure legs for compression hosiery
• Undertake opportunistic screening
• Support and promote infection control
• Give basic advice and appropriate referral for testicular cancer, family planning and sexual health for men
• To undertake Home Visits as required

We are happy to consider one Full Time nurse (37.5 hours) or a combination of part time to cover the hours required. Reasonable flexibility can be offered to agree working patterns to suit both the practice needs and the successful applicants.

The practice plays a lead role in the PCN and the clinical team have the opportunity to get involved in delivering PCN services where commissioned.
