Job summary
We are looking for a Prescribing Paramedic to join our forward thinking multidisciplinary team to provide a Specialist/Advanced Paramedic resource for health care professionals and service users and to work within the community, as an autonomous, accountable Paramedic, in the provision of a holistic approach for individuals including assessment, management and treatment, to deliver high quality patient services. To assess, manage, treat, refer and/or signpost patients/service users who attend surgery and in the community (home visits and residential/nursing home patients) with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or minor injury. The post holder will use advanced clinical skills to provide eduction to service users, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.
Main duties of the job
- Triage
and treat patients including telephone triage, & undertake an initial
assessment and treatment of all referrals within the scope of practice
- Ensure
clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of
competence, & to acknowledge limitations
- Advise
patients on general health care & minor ailments, with referral to other
members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary
- Work
from the surgery & within communities as an autonomous practitioner caring
for patients and families
- Undertake
assessment for patients within the community (home visits and residential/nursing homes) & those attending the surgery,
using diagnostic skills & initiation of investigations where appropriate
- Prescribe/issue
medications as appropriate following policy, patient group directives NICE
(national) & local clinical guidelines & local care pathways.

team of 2 practices based in Stafford and Cannock with approx. 14000
patients registered over our 2 sites.
Our clinical team consists of 3 GP Partners, 4 Advanced Nurse
Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant and a
Phlebotomist. We have 2 Practice
Managers, 1 Assistant Practice Manager who work across all 2 of our Practice and 14 Receptionists. We are also a training
Practice. All of our employees are
