Job summary

Barton Family Practice is looking to expand their team with a suitable qualified phlebotomist.

The post holder will work under supervision of the Lead Nurse and will undertake tasks and duties delegated by the Nursing/GP team.

Main duties of the job

They will work with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.

  • Collection of samples of blood in accordance with training
  • Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
  • Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
  • Checking patient identification against request, confirming with patient
  • Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedures
  • Ensuring samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories
  • Ordering equipment/stock and maintaining supplies
  • Ensuring anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
  • Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
  • Liaising with and assisting members of the reception team
  • Liaising with and assisting members of the nursing team
  • Working within practice infection control processes/procedures

Purpose built premises with District Nurses, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, CBT therapists on site

4 Partners ,Clinical Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner, 2 Nurses, Nurse Associate, HCA, and Phlebotomist
