Job summary

We are currently recruiting Medical Receptionists -staff for phones and staff that can cover a mixture of both front desk and phones. Applicants are welcome for Part time roles in our dedicated Reception team, based at our sites.

You will be signposting patients to the correct service to deliver their care, by greeting patients at the reception desk, handling telephone calls in the call centre and receiving calls on the desk, making appointments, and answering general enquiries in a courteous, efficient and effective way within key performance indicators. Care navigate to the appropriate service, and contact patients using text, telephone and letter.

You will also provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, via the telephone, text and letter.

Positions are a combination of early and late shifts between 8am to 6.30pm.

Main duties of the job

As part of the reception team, after a period of training, you are expected to have a range of core skills and work within HMG service delivery KPIs.

General:

To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.

To work in accordance of written protocols.

To keep up to date with changes within the practice to process.

Telephone:

Care Navigation of patient enquiries to the appropriate clinician/organisation.

Making appointments by telephone, handling requests for home visits and taking messages.

Online forms:

Care Navigation of online forms received from patients to the appropriate clinician/organisation

Contacting patients via telephone, text or letter as appropriate

Care Navigation

Being able to appropriately sign post patients to the most appropriate clinician or service by the use of a defined template.

Ability to use predefined care navigation template to ask patients questions about their need for an appointment and recording accurately into the template.

Reception duties to meet practice needs in agreement with Reception Supervisor:

Receiving patients and booking appointments at the Reception Counter.

Monitoring the waiting room and guiding patients to rooms.

Inform patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
