Ae you a Physicians Associate with an interest in Womens Health? We are looking for either someone who has had experience in this field, or someone with a keen interest looking to train and develop in this field of work within General Practice.
We are happy to accept applications from Physician Associates about to qualify in the next 6 months.
We currently have Physicians Associates working in this field and are keen to expand our team. You will work alongside a variety of clinicans and allied health professionals providing Womens health Care to our registered patients.
We can provide a supportive environment and training to the right candidate, and welcome informal visits and enquiries.
Main duties of the job
Provide first point of care contact for patients
presenting with acute and chronic problems that are specific to womens health
needs. Utilise history taking, physical examinations and use of clinical
decision making skills to establish a diagnosis and management plan.
Examples of how your day might look
Management of patients contraceptive needs, including LARCs.
Management of patients with menopausal symptoms and
advise on the use of HRT, prescribing within the scope of competency
Fitting and changing of ring pessaries
Fitting, removal and checks of IUCDs
Breast care queries and problems
Postnatal checks.
Advice and management of patients with Osteoporosis
Smear taking as directed by the national screening
programme, or as clinically necessary.
Maintain an awareness about the general health of
patients, managing the patients in a holistic manner and signposting as
necessary.
Make referrals to secondary care and social services within
locally agreed protocols, guidance and pathways.
To instruct and educate patients in preventative health care,
particularly in regards to womens health.
Fully document all aspects of
patient care and complete all required paperwork for legal and administrative
purposes.

- If US Trained:
- Current and valid certification with the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the UK Physician Associate Register (the PA Managed Voluntary Register)
